Default rag tops?

I don't know if its true but I heard that all convertibles (for any car) are not as sturdy as coupes. Such as the chassis, the overall body, and also its not the best choice if you are all for performance? To what extend are these rumors true?

its worse than the coupe in performance, b/c without the roof they reinforce the body and that adds weight

Yeah my buddy has a 99 Cobra conv. We went against a 00 GT and got our *** handed to us, because 1) the top was down, air resistance and 2) Convertibles way more. But, I would not completely agreee that the converts are less sturdy. Infact the car is more heavy duty because the fact that it is a convertible. So I hope that helps ya out.

Yes. If you want pure performance, get a coupe

If you wanna have FUN (& still have a great dose of performance) get a vert [8D]

sorry, but the guy driving the vert cant drive worth a damn, the vert weighs about 300 lbs more, which is equal to about .3 in the quarter at the most, air resistance is no different then racing a coupe with the windows down, its probably better because the air doesnt catch it so there is actually probably less wind resistance.

yeah, i was going to say, the verts dont weight THAT much more. I know mine is slower than some coupes, but I also have an auto so its the worse of both worlds. But, for the "wow" factor, you cant beat a sexy vert, unless your a racer, then yeah, coupe is probaly the way to go. But, those nice summer evenings with the top down is pretty tough to beat....wouldnt trade mine in
