I HAVE A 1968 MERCURY MONTEGO WITH A 302 2 BARREL CARB, I HOPE TO INSTALL IT STOCK IN TO A 1983 MERCURY CAPRI. I WAS CURRIOS AS TO IF THE BLOCK ECT. IS SUTTIABLE TO BE REBUILT INTO A 300+ HP MOTOR DOWN THE ROAD OR SHOULD I LOOK FOR A DIFFERENT YEAR. ALSO ANY OTHER CAHEP TRICKS ANYONE KNOWS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. LIKE WILL 69-71 351W HEADS GET ME MORE POWER OR CLEVLAND HEADS? tHANX FOR ANY INFORMATION.

older blocks are better ..stronger ..thicker cyl, walls,,,i would get some perf, alum heads ,,by the time you spend on them ,,with hardened seats on all the works ,,2/300 for bucks more could get you a good set of heads ,,,

good seasoned block put some .30 over slugs flat tops a nice cam and some alum heads with a single plan intake and a 750 vac sec. carb

As long as a block is taken care of and maintained, I'd rather work on one of those out of a civilian vehicle.

Heaty cycling......that's the oooooonly reason why I won't buy an ex-cop car or fire fighter vehicle.
