Auto or Manual >.<
I've been looking around and found bits of info about each, yet I still dont feel I've found enough.
I'm looking to buy a mustang, but I dont know about manual or auto. I'm not to worried about the fun to drive aspect of a 5 speed. I would like to know whats better for mild racing. I know you can put a shift kit and converter on a auto but how would that effect daily drives? Would it keep up with an manual, say stock manual vrs modded auto. Infact I feel like I'm more worried about a auto out pulling a manual.
I looking for a V8, I'd like to be in the mid to high 12's, but daily driver if possable. I want power on tap w/o neck breaking around town shifts if possable. Somthing along that line.
I dont know much about V8's.
My last car was a civic with a greddy turbo kit. I was pulling 13.7's with a 100% perfect run on street tires @8psi w/o a intercooler.
I would I like'd to be faster, but it was a great all around car that had been on 600+ mile trips w/o any problems.
Then it was stolen.
Anyways I always loved the raw power and sound of a V8 so thats what I have my eyes set on now. When it comes down to racing I dont wanna lose to a civic with 2k$ invested like I used to own. I'd also like to smoke this kid at work with a stock SRT-4 running like 17psi that claims he beats mustangs left and right.
Bahh whatever, any help would be great.

A auto with a shift kit, trans cooler, and high stall is the way to go. You say you dont care about the fun factor of the 5 speed so you might as well build up an auto and be consistant at the track with it.
I would still go w/ the five speed. The five speed is faster stock and slightly modified but a highly modded car is better in an auto. It is more consistent and lacks a lot of driver error. 13.7 should not be hard to do in a GT w/ a few mods but running mid to low 12s will take a little work. If you put a blower on the V8 and suspension mods, you should be getting down there as long as you have supporting mods as well.
I suggest the 5-speed..
If its a daily driver and something that will go to the track I think it will take the abuse better.. You got with an auto and start to toss in shift kits and running it at the track your probably going to brake something..
I've had nothing but 5-speeds and I've found they take the abuse well and arn't bad at all to drive every day..
As the above stated though, autos are more consistant at the track and easier to drive..

I'm not to worried about the fun to drive aspect of a 5 speed
but having said you dont care about it being an auto and the 'fun to drive' part, then get the auto
put in a shift kit and a stall, and be more consistent, hell, that alone plus some DR's and you'll get high 13's,, maybe 13.8-13.9's consistently
