True on that, I live in Cal and I have 3 selections of octane, 87-89-91. And I work for BMW, and the must be on 91 or they ping. My eclipse was suppose to have 91, not required and it wasn't a difference I could tell. My mustang I run 87, and no problems.

i ran 93 octane for a while and it wasn't that bad... i could tell it ran a little smoother and i got better gas mileage but sicne premium is now like 2.80/gal it's not worth it

i have been running 87 on my tang since i got it about 1 yr ago, but recently i thought i would try the 93 to see what happened (and i am planning on bumping the timing this weekend) and i got about 3-4 mpg better. I dont know about anyone else but i like getting that better mileage even if it costs more. Just means i dont have to stop as often.

well if u think about it..3-4mpg and say u fill up w/ 12-13 gallons
w/ 91 costing .20 cents more..u end up saving money not spending
in this case going w/ 3mpg and 12 gallons u spend $2.40 more than 12 gallons of 87
and get 36 more miles on a tank..which is 3 more gallons of 87 which is what?
3 gallons x 2.71 (in CA 87) and u save around $5.50 every fill up

but this is if and only if u get better mileage w/ higher octane gas..

long confusing explanation lol but it worx in my case

in the case of my dad's GTP, its actually cheaper to run premium fuel b/c the gas mileage difference is huge between regular and premium

ya i think it may actually be cheaper for me as well. Plus not stopping as much, hopefully when i bump my timing the mileage will either stay the same or only get better...
