Brakes WTF?

Brakes WTF?
What is up when you slam on the brakes and the parking brake light comes on? My brothers GT also does the same thing. I know it's not when the engine cuts off from braking because I've done that before to show my friends how good the brakes are. But why under a hard stop does the e-brake light come on?

RE: Brakes WTF?
You sure it's the parking brake light and not the brake trouble light? I don't want to sound like a smart *** or something but I've seen knowledgable folks do similar things. If it's the brake trouble light it could be your fluid level is low enough that your tripping the low fluid sensor when the fluid gets thrown forward under the intertia.
Beyond that I'm pretty sure the emergency brake "sensor" is a switch located in the cabin that is tripped by the handle itself. It would have to be a loose wire or loose sensor.

when pads get worn doesn't really make the fluid heat up and if using dot 4 it would be a problem...I do agree as the brakes need looking at but could be nothing more than the parking brake handle is loose and moves under hard stops...but check the brakes as thier nothing to play with

RE: Brakes WTF?
I never said it made the fluid heat up. What happens is there is more fluid in the lines and less in the reservoir. Thats how the pedal stays firm when the brakes are worn. When mine needed brakes, the e-brake light would come on when you stopped. The newer system uses a light instead of a sqweaker like the older cars did.
Trust me on this one. Look at the brakes. Probably nothing wrong with the e-brake handle.
