Ford Variable Timing
OK.... well im guessing you know the basics... Basically fords variable CAM timing is a form of Variable valve timing. Its accomplished by rotating the whole camshaft (advancing/retarding in relation to the cranks rotation) using an oil pressure controlled solenoid on the cam driver... simple right
VTEC's use 2 lobes and a follower on the larger one. When the engine reaches the Set rpms a solenoid kicks open using oil pressure to move a pin that locks the rocker arm to the follower on the larger lobe, so the valve follows the larger profile. These are the two basic methods for variable valve timing in most engines
That what you were lookin for?
Jim
