I got a 89 lx 5.0. The car should pass german inspection stock. My oxygen level is to high comming ot of my exhaust. My co2 and nox and all is normal. My o2 sensors are function properly and I have replaced my egr valve. What is my next step in solving the problem?

 

Check your entire exhaust for leaks. It's common for us "smog **** state"(california) folk to loosen up the clamped connection right above the rear axel to allow air to be sucked in & help us pass the emissions test....

 

Keep that in mind but I doubt it considering I got a new catback mangaflow exhaust... I'm shipping the car to america this summer where they don't check the o2 level but I know there is something off because it should pass stock in German...

 

What I don't understand is your statement,"My oxygen level is to high comming ot of my exhaust." Too much oxygen is possibly bad for the motor; but won't fail you here in our country during an emissions test. Too little O2, Co2 & NOX being too high will all fail you here in the California. So, you can now understand my confusion & why other people have not replied to you question.....

 

Let me type up a few more Facts. I baught my Mustang In German. American cars going to Europe is no problem with the Inspection (emmissions). In other terms The American inspection is harsher than the German inspection. My car was built in america and should pass inspection Stock. My Co2 and nox are all at normal level. My o2 sensors have been check and are working prperly. I acctually braught the car to an american specialist in Harburg Germany (Autobond)!! Anyways he saw on the comp... Erg vale. So I replaced it and had no success. It's not a big deal condsidering I am moving back to the Boton area where I am from but I know that somehting is off... The o2 level was way hight!! My car Sat Gararaged for 10 years when I baught it and My local mechanic last advice was to get new cat converters. Just trying to find out what off with my 5.0????
