fuel injected with AOD
I'm restoring a 66 vert and I want to put in a modern fuel injected engine with an AOD tranny. I am currently looking for a donor mustang and just want some opinions as to which year I should go. I've been told an 88 - 93 because of the HO engine or something. I've also been told that 90 has the best computer. I am not an engine guy, Iam looking for reliability and cruisability. I'm not looking to blow doors just drive down highway 1 reliably. any help would be great. Is there a specific part of the VIN to look for? anything.
Thanks

Those engines would work fine in your classic. The HO designation was for High Output but their output was surpassed in 99-up Mustangs and in 93 with the introduction of the Modular engine in the Lincoln MK VIII.
A friend & shop owner local to me does quite a few conversions using the '89-93 mass air 5.0 motors w\T5 manual trannies. Most of the customers prefer the T5 & carb'ed roller long block over the mass air. California had the first mass air mustangs in 1988. The rest of the U.S. saw mass air mustangs for the first time in 1989. '94-95 engine, trans, harness, computer will work as well......
