Hi, I have a 1994 mustang. It is an automatic and has ran great for years but suddenly it has been having some weird issues. I have to put it into neutral to start it, use the parking brake to keep it from rolling away and sometimes have to repeatedly switch it in and out of gear to get it to drive. Just yesterday it stopped going in reverse, after alot of fiddling i put it in park to give up and voila...it goes in reverse...wth? Now today it wont go in reverse even in park...anyone know whats going on here?
I'd have to also say check the cable. Especially since you couldn't start it in park, which could have been reverse for you. The car won't start due to a neutral safety switch. If you can get it to go into gear and shift automatically up through the gears, I'd say it isn't the tranny.
