your stock 87 has pedestal mount rockers. this means there is a raised hump in the heads with a tapped and threaded hole in it that each rocker is bolted to with a bolt. with stud mounts, there is a stud screwed or press fit into the head and the rocker arm goes over the stud and is then held down with a nut. stud mounts are better for performance in the long run as you can install a stud girdle on them to stabilize the valve train but you can't do that with pedestal mounted rockers as there ain't nothing sticking up to mount the girdle to.
