Default Mach 460 question

Ive got the mach 460 system and its not too bad but I want a new cd player. I hate the stock one, I hate how it is blocked by the shifter. Its not easy to switch cds, etc. I would like to pull the upper radio out and put a different cd player in there (alpine or something like that). So in essence id have 2 cd players in the dash, the stock one I would not use. Is this possible? If so, what would it entail (something easy or a big hassle)? Incase you can't tell, I'm not an authority on car audio by any means.

thanks

you'd need a trim kit and wiring harness, I think there's an external amp on the mach 460's so I'm not sure what you do with that. Stop by somewhere like tweeter or something and ask them if you need anything special, you can order the harness and trim kits from crutchfield or even best buy I think can get them for you.

Since you have a 99GT ( just guessing by the name ) The amps are actually above the trunk space. They are covered by a large piece of black plastic that is a pain in the a$$ to remove belive me. I had to replace a speaker in the rear. As far as using 2 CD players... WHY? Why not move the tuner am/fm to the bottom, and install a new CD player on top???

Thanks for the help. I dont want to use 2 cd players, I just want to take out the radio and replace it with a different cd player. I'd still technically have 2 cd players in the the car, just wouldnt use the stock one. I dont want to bother taking out the stock cd player, im not going to put anything else where it goes.

Default RE: Mach 460 question

I've talked to some local audio stores and they said switching anything in a Mach 460 system is a bitch. They said that you will never get the right sound unless you change everything, speakers, amp, head unit, etc...

It has something to do with the OHM's that the system is wired in.

If the transplant works please let me know, and just an idea for the stock CD space, try putting an equalizer in there...just an idea.
