Default Speedo fix after gear change, Help!

Well i have a 88 lx 5.0 with an automatic,,i am changing from the whack *** 2.73 to a 3.73, what do i have to do to fix the speedo,,,or more importantly where can i get the parts to do so.

I am a Ford tech that specialises in rear diffs,,in fact i have two of them appart right now,,however, in the computer an 88 never came with a 3.73 so getting the apropriate gear drive for it is not listed,,,where can i get the right gear drive or do you more knowledgable mustang types have another way of doing this.

Along these lines, does anyone have or know of a chart of which speedo gears are used with different tranny/rear-end gear set-ups?

My car has had the rear gears changed from 2.73 (I think) to 3.55's, and I'd like to know what the correct speedo gears are also (using 5 speed manual).

In most places I've seen them they are listed by gear. Like you order your speedo gear for what rear end gears you have.

well after about 10 minutes in the parts room we found that the aod uses a 7 tooth drive gear and required a 21 tooth driven gear(purple) and it cost me $4.00, oh and if you guys want to get ring and pinions cheap i am getting a genuine ford 3.73 for $123.00,,,not too bad i my book. i will have me rearend setup for less than $200 which is what motorsport wants retail for just the ring and pinion

you can get the speedo gears from www.holcombmotorsports.com in Lumberton, NC. they have some of the lowest prices for Mustang and fords of any place I have bought stuff from in the past. their catalog is a virtual cornucopia of Mustang parts to go fast!
