Auto Cross
This weekend im goin to auto cross at the SCCA meet here in ny at Nassua Colesium.. Who here has run autocross b4. My car suspension is all stock except for kyb shocks and polyutithance bushings, pro stop pads and power stop rotors. Is there anything i should watch out for..a certain part that likes to brake. Also what stuff would u recomend bringing with me to help out?
I've never done auto-x (though I have plans to as well), but a friend of mine does it regularly. The way he describes it to me is it's like running a drag strip, only with corners. What he means is, there's a start line and a finish line. The object is to get from point A to point B as quickly as possible. And since they run 1 car at a time, you're racing against the clock.
As far as setting up your car, in most cases, you want to set it up as best you can to handle corners. Most of the time the course is laid out to be technical, not high speed. Since it's your 1st time, use it as a learning experience. Talk to some of the other drivers there who have been at it awhile, especially other Mustang drivers. See what they do. Most of all, have fun.
BTW-my friend says you have to watch out for moving cones. He says they have a tendency to jump right in front of the car
