If your car is a '90 GT, and the transmission is stock, then you have a Tremec World Class T5.

How much do ya wanna bet? I'm rebuilding my dad's T5 out of his '85 GT right now and it's a WC. I have the tag to prove it. 1985 thru 1989 GTs have the same WC T5. 1990 thru 1993 GTs had higher quality gears to hold up to more torque, but still a WC. Also, the Cobra didn't come back until 1993, which actually had a T5 Z-spec 5-speed, which raised the torque capacity to 330 ft. lbs. and dropped the 1st gear ratio from 3.35 to 2.95. The non-WC transmissions were used in the '83-'84 GTs. So I don't know why the GTs would "wish" for a WC T5, because it's still a weak transmission, only capable of about 265 ft. lbs. stock. The only way to have a reliable T5 is to upgrade the gear sets to the Z-spec like the '93 Cobra had, or go all the way and order a G-force kit with 9310 gears and mainshaft and bronze shift forks which ups the power handling capability to 600 ft. lbs. of torque or 500 HP.

you might be better off looking at a TKO or something like that instead of that kit. Don't know how much the kit is though so that's kinda a big factor. If it's cheap enough it might be worth the trouble.

http://www.5speeds.com/t5/gforce.html

The kit is $950 which contains 1st thru 3rd drive gears, the countershaft, main shaft, and stabilizer plate which works in conjunction with the countershaft. The bronze shift forks are another $250. Or you can order a complete transmission from their website for $1800. The new TKO transmissions cost about $1600, but since they are longer you would have to shorten your driveshaft or order a new one. I myself would purchase a G-force kit and upgrade the T5 because it's cheaper if you can build it yourself, which isn't really hard, as long as you have some amount of mechanical skill and a service manual which you can download from the Tremec website. The G-force T5 is rated to handle 500 HP. Any more than that you probably should think about switching to an auto.

Cool, that's something to keep in mind for the future if I have any tranny problems.
