Default 67 gt motor

Hi.. newby here.. Igot a few questions. I got hold of a 67 gt mustang. I got the motor out and the code is- C5AE-6015e.. I think I deciphered it right, but want some professional reassurance. I don't think it is the og block. so far , I can see that it was built in 1965,and from a galaxie, but what is with the engineering ?? Is it a special motor that was installed due to lack of motors?? Is it worh anything to a collector to rebuild?? Thanks.

Default RE: 67 gt motor

Everything Ford produced over the years, has a part number that correlates with the first year of production. The only time the part number changes is when the casting is revised in some manor. For instance: the part number on my '89 Mustang's distributor starts out E4ZE; signifying a first year manufacture of '84 for that specific 302W distributor housing. Late '67 to early '68; the engine block casting number was revised due to the "new" 302..... I believe you have a 289. Odds are the engine is correct for your car.....
