BIG performance loss!!
I've got a 1994 Mustang GT with the 5.0 and have noticed since i bought the car, it has huge performance loss and can't seem to figure it out! When I go to punch it, it doesn't pick up fast at all. Ran at the local drag strip and ran a 19.5 ish. I know this isn't typical, but it's hard to figure out. Any suggestions?

RE: BIG performance loss!!
It can be alot of things.Try giving it a tune up(air ,fuel, plugs, pcv, oil)Is the car burning oil?Check your fuel pressure.Check the timing too. Some times ppl will retard the timing to hide a problem or save gas.Is it auto or stick? if its auto check the fluid to see if its burnt if its stick check the fluid and the clutch and linkage.also check your rear to make shure it is not binding.jack the rear up and try turning it buy hand it should move easy and while its in the air check the u-joints too.also check yor tires for uneven wear.if the car is out of alignment that will put drag on the front end and afect gas milege and speed.check the supention too look to see if the shocks are leaking this also ads to drag on a car.How much bling is on the car if any.that can weigh a car down. Also make shure all of your dash lights come on when you start the car as the car might be in safe mode. This all Icould think of With the info you gave.Oh whats the milage on the

RE: BIG performance loss!!
thx Black! The car is not burning oil, it's had a full tuneup done on it. Never thought of the PCV system. I'll try checking the fuel pressure while I'm at it. I'm pretty sure that the timing hasn't been messed with, but i'll look at it. It's a manual and I haven't checked it for fluid levels yet, but will do. no bling on it at all, and not all the lights come on, so it shouldn't be in safe mode I think. This particular car has 111,360 miles on it. Thanks again Black

Hey Ford...
Don't forget to check the exhaust. If it is partially clogged, you will lose power and it will sound normal! Sometimes the Cat (or muff) will get partially clogged and drive you nuts till you find the prob.
Good luck.
