going from 7.5" to an 8.8"

going from 7.5" to an 8.8"
What is the difference between a 1979 7.5" rearend and an 8.8" 1993 rear end? The newer rear end should bolt right up, correct? There are mounts on top of the 8.8 that arent on my 7.5 what could they be? Thanx, if u need pics let me know.
