Speedo is off. help?
My speedo is off and I am not too sure why. It is about 10 mph off when I am at lower speeds, and then it becomes even further off at higher speeds. Anybody know why? Does it have something to do with the gearing or the rear end? When I bought the car it was like this, so I am not sure what the previous owner might have done to it.
could be different than stock gears in the rear or major difference in the tire size (diameter) between stock and what's on it now. lower rear gears will make it read lower than the actual road speed and so will smaller tires.
Wrong speedo gear, mine has an engine and tranny out of a 93 along with the 93's gear which is different. My speedo shows 2/3rd's of the actual speed due to this. When I get the money to put in my gears I've got the right one for those so it will be back to normal after that.
If you know what tranny and rear-end gears you have, go here http://www.geocities.com/mgnedell/no...ch/speedo.html and find out what speedo gear you need for your car. And yes, the Jeep gear works
