Transmission
I have an '89 mustang gt with a C4 which is about to go out (im guessing like 3 more months) so i'm trying to get some money saved up for a new tranny, but I dont know what to pick. I want a 5spd mainly for gas milage, but i've heard the T5's arent very strong, but the 90-93 T5's are a good choice if any to rebuild & use. I need something that will hold 340whp. Any ideas?
P.S. I'm not getting rid of the C4, It's good for racing

RE: Transmission
You can either find a used T5 and rebuild it with a G-force kit which will hold up to a lot more power than a stock T5, or you can buy a Tremec TKO-500 or TKO-600, which will hold up to 500 ft. lbs. or 600 ft. lbs. respectively. A T5 isn't hard to rebuild, and you can have a complete G-force kit with bronze shift forks for $1,200.

RE: Transmission
I would stay with the c-4..and I would rebuild it asap as the worse it get more $$$ it will be...put in some kevlar clutches and a big *** trans cooler and a good shift kit or 1800.00 will get you a nice new art carr with convertor

RE: Transmission
I would stay with the C4 but its bad on gas. I love everything about it but that & the fact that its about to go & it already has a good shift kit in it. I'm not getting rid of it, keeping it for later use.
