RE: Pro 5.0 shifter
The steeda tri-ax is currently in my 92 stang.
I love it, no longer miss gears.
Anyways, there is this rubber block like thing in between pieces to the shifter.
thats the only reason the stock one doesnt have the vibration noise.
but u can reuse that rubber block and plop it on your new short throw so i've heard.
I don't notice any noise until i shift into fifth
and then it seems to get that vibration noise

Ahh yes, the rubber black thing! It was on the bottom of the stock shifter and the directions for the 5.0 did not mention it. I took a chance, popped it onto the 5.0 shifter and it seemed to fit. I do get some noise (like a low vibration) in certain rpms but it isnt very loud... I am very happy with the 5.0 shifter and the shifts are very solid and firm. I wouldnt go back to the stock shifter.
Anyway- thats my 2ยข

RE: Pro 5.0 shifter
I bought mine on Ebay with a shift handle for $159. I installed it the other day, turned out to be a PITA. Tranny is sitting too far forward for the hole in the tunnel. I had to trim the sheet metal to access the bolts. Of course my dremel was MIA so a pair of tin snips and pliers helped me out. Any how, after the install I did notice some noise when in gear, seems to be worst in 1,3,5 so I think I may just need to back off the stop bolt. I think it may be resting against the stop and transmitting all the vibes through the handle. I'll see if it helps and post. All in all I love the way it snaps into gear and I love the shorter profile, nice piece of hardware.

RE: Pro 5.0 shifter
I think that if you are bad mouthing the Pro 5.0 then you must have installed it wrong or something. Mine shifts so easy and there is a little ping when you shift because it hits the adjustment screw. I LOVE MINE! I drove a '03 Cobra with the tri ax and I hated it. If I were you I would go with the Pro 5.0!
