actually if your good at fabricating, you might be able to utilize the ifs from a 4wd ranger and i would assume you could borrow the drivetrain from one as well. the only thing that would need changed is the diff. so that it could safely operate at higher speeds

It won't be the first! There was just such a crature at the Asphalt Angels car show Feb 2005 in Richmond, VA.
Don't know the details, but it was up in the air pretty good. I think pics are on the Asphalt Angels web site.

Darn! LOL LOoked through the 44th Annual Asphalt Angels' web pics and no luck on seeing the 'Stang. I did see lots of respect demanding classics and hot rods though. Nice group there. I loved the pics of the award winning "Ladies' Choice" classic 'Stang. As for the differences between 4WD, AWD, and FT4WD, I do know the differences. 4WD will be a bit harsh on the car on concrete, unless the traction is very low. This is why my system will be a locker system with full control. All wheel drive seems quite nice, but All Wheel Drive won't be able to handle my high torque engine unless I spend the extra dough to reinforce the frame and center differential. I do not want to use a "welded spider" center diff. Full Time 4 Wheel Drive would rock, but I want to be able to switch off the different axles if I wish for just rear wheel drive or front wheel drive, for bad weather of course. The H4WD systems in the original HMMVVs is just out of the question. I have heard that the Ranger 4x4s and the smaller Bronco/Bronco II 4x4s may be used, but I haven't found any supporting information on them. As for tranny, I want a good manual with torque capabilities, switchable manual tranfer case, maybe a Dana unit, and good stock/aftermarket large Ford diffs front and back will fit. As for the idea to sit it on a Subaru, I found a really nice Subaru with a boxer 6 engine and a 6 speed Semiautomatic race tranny in it. It gave me a neat idea to search for a similar tranny for my engine. Doubt it exists though. Oh yeah. Air locker diffs are on the drawing board too.
