I have a 69 coupe, 351w and fmx trans. The fmx doesnt seem to be too popular or
have much parts support, so I would like sugestions as to a c4 or c6 .
I was also wondering about the drive shaft length, is either compatible or will I need
to fabricate a new one. Thanks!!!

 

dam i thought i was the only one that had an fmx trans..got one in my truck,,in my truck it had a c-5 trans was bad instead,i had i good fmx out of my ltd that had a tci kit in it..i love it a even got 11 converter...i did have to got a longer driveshaft,,,,so in your case you will need to shorten your driveshaft,,pm me if any more questions i missed,,,

 

Thanks for the response,NOS/MAN . Do you know of a parts source for the fmx ?
I dont know what shape mine is in, wont till I get the engine together. It does leak oil from the shift selector shaft and the tail shaft seal but the fluid looks pretty fair.

my fmx bark 3rd gear before in put the converter in ,,its just softened up 3rd gear a bit,,a only have a tci shift kit in it,,with dayco converter 11in.mine dont leak from the shift shaft seal ,,you replace that when you rebuild it,,the real seal,check your driveshaft yoke for wear,,if not check the tail housing bushing,,,i rebuilt mine myself ,,not that bad,,just get master kit ..new modulator valve...and f type fluid,thats what i run..its and my f100 pickup with 351w rpm heads ,4.30 gears,,,,i like the fmx because its H/D has cast iron center section,,its tuff..i just got a tci kit ,,can find in catologs...got mine 8 years ago ..they should still make them...
