Default Shift Kit

Im Thinking about getting a shift kit for my 01 GT but im not sure how much a good one will cost (parts, install, etc.) Also, i was wondering how much it will help performance wise becuase if its not going to make that big of a difference then i might just spend my money on something else.

a good shift kit will make a noticeable difference but I would go with new rear gears, like 3.73's first and then look into a shift kit after the new gears are in.

I just had installed 3.73 gears and a steeda tri-ax shifter and love it...go w/ steeda's shifter I heard pro 5.0 is good also..

if u have a shop install the shifter it should only run u about 80 bucks..I'd get the gears and shifter installed at the same time if I were u cuz thats what I did and u'll notice a bigger differance when u do both

Oh...you manual guys.....

Thunder, he was talking about a shift kit for an auto. I think I'm going to follow RM's advice and do the same thing he suggested...now I just have to find an install shop!

Well, after doing some research... (Google = God)

It seems that the TransGo is a little more comprehensive and all around better quality. I'm placing a call into the local Ford dealerships for the gear install.

They might do it in less hours but for more money. If you don't have a good shop you know and trust go with the dealer but if you do call them too before you do it.

transgo's kit is awesome, had in my 98 with 3.73's heads/exhaust/ etc and the car was a demon.... still miss that car..... after that, go with a new stall converter and an auburn diff.
