So I was involved in a little fender bender, damn women drivers. I was t-boned. She hit and bent my axle so I had to have it replaced. My original axle was taged "221C" and had 2.73 gears in it. Now my speedo is off by ten mph (so it says 50mph on my speedo when i'm only going 40). I checked the tag on the axle, and sure enough, it says "229C". I need to figure out what gears are in this axle so I can swap out the speedo gear. Any ideas?

 

you had the 7.5 rearend, and swapped to an 8.8?

 

No, they're both 8.8's

 

Where did you get it done? Might be able to call a dealer or if you open up the rear end they might be marked. Don't know if stock ones are but a lot of aftermarket ones are.
