i owned a 96 gt before and now i want to get another 94-98 mustang this time around i plan on adding some mods to her
im looking to get into the 12 or 11's
with this said would i be better off just starting out with a cobra because of the stonger engine
whats the cobra have that the gt doesnt
engine internals

rear end
im set on haveing a 94-98 model

RE: 94-98 v8 questions
I could be wrong but I think the cheapest way to 12s and 11s is gonna be a 94-95 5.0. If ur gonna build it u might as well not bother buyin a Cobra unless you find one cheap b/c you'll be replacing most of the Cobra parts anyways...

RE: 94-98 v8 questions
Found this info from Stangnet:
Cast iron GT40 heads
Cast aluminum Cobra intake manifold
Crane 1.7 rocker arms
24lb fuel injectors
Cobra specific ECU (computer)
"Cobra" stamped valve covers with build sticker and signature
Engine oil cooler
Front mounted power steering fluid cooler
Lightened flywheel
Phosphate coated transmission gears
Overdriven waterpump pulley
Cobra specific camshaft
Cam specs: Duration: 227°/Intake & 270°/Exhaust
Lift: .485/.485 Intake/Exhaust
Lobe separation: 118.5°
Suspension/Brakes
13" Front brakes
11.65" rear brakes
"Cobra" embossed front calipers
Cobra specific brake booster
Cobra specific rear sway bar
Cobra specific shocks/struts/springs
K-member that is slightly stiffer than the GT's
No strut tower brace
Personally, I would get the GT. You can get them for less than half the price of the same year Cobra if you look and bargain enough, which to me, doesn't justify any additional price you would pay to get a Cobra. Unless you just really want to have a Cobra.
Going into the 12's, you wouldn't have to change nearly enough parts to make it worth the money to go ahead and get the Cobra. Again, unless you really want one. Hope this helps.
Edit: This is for 94-95 Cobras BTW. Everyone here so far, myself included, strongly suggest getting the 5.0 instead of the 4.6 for going straight to 12s.
