We just bought it, fast car, excellent motor sound.

Problem is that when we come to a stop or slow down for a corner the car shuts off.

It's a Windsor 351..with a 4Bl Holly. Anyone had the same problem? Thanks

 

How's the idle when it's sitting still? Is it an auto trans? Try putting it into neutral before slowing down, does it still die?

 

Does it sound like you are running it out of gas when it stalls? If so, check the float bowls. One of them maybe sticking or have a hole in it.

We've got a '72 Mach 1 with the 351C-4V and never had that problem.

Your floats might be adjusted too high and the car ends up flooding itself out. Is it kinda hard to restart after this happens?

 

Check your secondary float. The float sight for the secondaries is supposed to be lower than the primaries...but they get that mixed up once in a while (I had 1 shipped with 2 primary bowls, and another with the correct setup...the difference is obvious when they are side by side).

What was the original engine in that Mach?
