Default What needs to be changed?

I just ordered subframe connectors upper & lower rear control arms, and I'm going to add a rear sway bar to my 84 2.3L. The goal is to get it ready to put a 5L over the winter, but keep driving it till then. anyways when I change I hear I may need to change 1- Rad, 2- power steering pump, 3- brakes possably, and also do I need to change to 5 bolt wheels? or will the 4 bolt hold up. Thanks

well the 5.0s up until 96 ran 4lugs so you should be all set there.

Yeah you are going to need a radiator, not sure on the pump though.

the pump goes with the motor your using, along with the alternator etc. you can try to use the stock 2 core radiator - it may very well work fine on a stock 5.0. as for the brakes and suspension - its a good idea to upgrade since the car is alot heavier now - but not a necessity. you can always get the car going with the 5.0 and upgrade what you need to when you realize it.

you will probably need to think about upgrading the tranny and the rear end as the parts for a 4 banger are weak in comparison to what they used on a 5.0.

Ahh so true - the little 4 speed MT that came in those babies wont line up without a different pilot bearing anyways (did they put auto's on the 4cyl stangs back then?) and the rear end is a wussy 7.5". I think the rear will hold up fine under stock power as long as your not using sticky tires, but really though - I agree with roundman

Probably would be a good idea to find a boneyard 5.0 and ****** some parts on the cheap.

I would recommend the change to an 8.8 rear, but the 7.5 will work. the 85 gt's had the 7.5 rear and they did just fine up to a point.

OK great , thanks guys, I'm thinking I'll pick up a 5L with a wrecked body, and take the whole drive train, and any other parts I can use. and drop them in. I guess the 5 speed tranny would have differnt mounts (maybe some welding needed?)

oh ya I almost forgot, what about the clutch? I have no hydrolic clutch. will this work with a T5 or tremec tranny? or will I need to convert to hydrolic?
