Taking off on Second (good or bad) ?
I always drive around town and I'm usually always taking off on second unless I'm racing my car - when I take off on second it's usually just a soft take off, is that good or bad ?
Funny, I was just thinking about posting the same question. While I was driving up and down the lanes at the parking lot here at work, I dropped my auto trans into 2nd. I get to hear more of the exhaust rumble when taking off in 2nd. I would think it is harder on a standard because you are holding in the clutch a lot more to let it slip, whereas the auto is designed to have some slip.
I've only done it a few times but I'm guessing it's ok.

dont think it's too bad if you have 4.10's, 4.30's. I know I wouldnt start my car off in second from a dead stop.

I start off on in 3rd alot when Im carrying food around hehe, like an auto
Its not hard on anything but your clutch because you gotta feather it more off the start.
