Default Total Newbie Question

I'm very new to mustangs and have a question. I want to get one as a manual but is there a reason why the stick shift sticks out so much? What I mean is by the way it looks compared to other cars where the stick is low. I am talking about the pre-05 years. Are the 05-06 ones a short throw shift?

Let me know if I make no sense!

I dunno what you mean,, I've had 4 mustangs so far and, while the stick might not be the most precise thing in the world (long throws compared to aftermarket shifters) I've never felt it was "too tall". Have you sat in a stang & the shifter felt too tall? Are you super short? lol

The pre-05 models are different in that the shifter sits a bit further up in the console...For the new stangs Ford finally went back to the way it used to be- centered. The only difference is that it may be a longer reach on pre-05 models, which isn't a big deal...

I have an 06 GT, they call it a short throw, and i would have to agree with that. Honestly, it's probably one of the nicest shifting cars i have ever been in, including a porsche boxter...

On a side note, i'm not sure if you are looking for a v6 or gt, but the v6 shift like trash, it is a lot more loose, it kind of gives it the feel of tall i spose.
