I have a quick question. I just purchased an 85 LX 5.0. The motor is has been rebuild and built up alittle and the AOD has been changed out for a C4 with shift kit and 2500 RPM stall converter. So i know that the rear end is the next thing that is going to need to be upgraded. Now my question is what rear end does this car have. i was sure that it was an 8.8 like all of them but i was just reading something that said 85 was the last year for the 7.5. This is the first time that i have ever heard of that and wanted to see if anyone knows if that is true. Also how can i tell the diff between the 2 since i am not sure that i have ever seen a 7.5 year end before. Thanks for the help

I think 86 did start the 8.8...The 8.8 is the size of the ring gear so the 8.8 should be alot bigger than the 7.5 I also think the 7.5 rears do not have quad shocks

85 was the last year for the 7.5.. Unless it has been changed, you have the 7.5
