Its not as hard as people make you think,

i have a 1997 mustang v6 auto , and just converted it to a 1999 gt auto

list of whats needed

ecu
wiring for both ecu and engine
engine and tranny ( try to get on k member )
drive shaft or yoke from tranny
radiator
hard metal fuel lines ( v6 and gt are opposite sides and different sizes)
fuel pump
exhuast
gauges

i got a shop to do the swap for 1500 bucks ,

i got all the parts for 1750.00

so i went from a v6 to a gt for 3200 bucks

now here is the kicker

under a v6 mustang i pay 1300 a year for insurance

for if i get insurance on a gt its 2700

so i have a gt and save 1400 a year

in the long run i made out

lets not forget i have the 1994-1997 body with a 1999 gt engine

so u still have ur insurance company thinkin u have a six? thats retarded. if you get in a wreck, 1 they wont pay for **** cuz u lied to them and 2 there is a good chance that they will drop you off their coverage

well, i could try rebuilding mine but why would i want to rebuild a v6 when dropping in a gt engine is only 1,000 more??? this has to be done. i wish i had my car here with me and i could get a sound clip so u could hear how bad its knocking. yea, that is kinda retarded with the insurance thing. they will pay for the damage though just none to the engine or anything. hell the might not pay for anythign at all i dunno.i think they will though

just save up and try and get a cobra. its not worth dropping a cobra engine to a v6. It wont hold its value when trying to resell and it wont be a cobra

yea i will be sure to inform my insurance co. and i know to get the 4v thats y i want the 03-4 cuz its sc also. it really isnt worth the time of effort for me to save to get a cobra cuz im not going to get nowhere near enough money for my car to pay it off and i dont plan on ever selling my car. ive already put too much money into it to sell it.

no, the insurance company has it correct, it is listed as a 1997 v6 convertible (modded) my agent said the engine does not matter becuse they go by the vin not the engine, but it does state i have a 1999 gt engine in there and it also has copies of all the reciepts for comp and collision

but as all of you know your car is insured by the vin not the engine

by the way how many people out there do engine swaps and tell their insurance agent, then again how many add power adding bolt ons and tell their insurance ?

It's not fraud. The vin is still a V6 Mustang. They don't care what you've done to the engine.
