hello new to site and have a question....
hello to all, i am new to this site and new to mustangs. ok, i have a 2000 gt convertible, i just bought it used and its only got only 48k mi. on it. the question/concern i have is that i have a low speed low noise growl coming from the front.(at least im sure it sounds like that). it only does it at 20-15mph or less when coming to a stop. it does this low growling noise in neutral, clutch in/out, in gear, and also in curves at low speed. (as if turning into a parking spot). the first thing that came to mind was front wheel bearings were shot, so i bought some new ones and replaced it. but low and behold the noise is still there. the car runs great in all speeds, no shaking, pedal doesnt pulsate, and no abnormal noise in any other speeds, just at or below 15mph. i really need help figuring this out, cuz its a little anoying and im curious as to what it is thats causing this. any advise is very helpful thanks alot for any replies..

oh ive checked the rotor and pads and they "seem" to look good. no weird lines on the rotor or blue marks or nothing like that.

does the sound change when you release, or put more pressure on the brakes? does it make the noise when coasting to a stop, or only when your foot is on the brake. I would try to rule out the brakes first.

cletus, yes the noise is heard with or without foot on brake. does it while coasting. i just noticed today that brake pedal slightly pulses when the noise is heard. not alot, just a small pulse. im going to see if i can get the rotors turned so i can completely rule out the front end.
jd, how do i check the rear wheel bearings? is it just check for excessive movement of the wheel with car jacked up? or do i got to take something apart?

You really won't see or feel any movement on a rear bearing, you migh have to pull it apart. It is unlikley that it's bad but seeing as how you just bought it and don't know the history of the car it's just somthing it could be.Is there any evidence of damage to the wheels? If the car hit a curb hard enough it might have done somthing. It's a long shot though.

jd, no damage to the wheels. one of em has alittle scuff on it but nothing major. i'll check out the rear bearings tomorrow or sometime during the week. ill let yall know what i find. i know wheel bearings can go out at early mileage cuz both front ones on my 03 blazer went out before 20k...alot of potholes in dc.
