Default powder coated headers

will powder coating work on headers? or will the temperatures that they reach destroy it. i was looking to get some new headers to replace the crap i have now and i am looking into wyas of preventing rust and suh, i was thinking wither ceramic or hts but hts isnt really anything special. the cheapest ceramic equal length headers that i found that is to say the only ceramic equal lenght heagers i found were from bassani and they cost as much as a gt 40 intake manifold so i was wondering if anyone had a cheaper alternative to this or if they could tell me where i can get some good headers with a cermaic coating thanks

well, make sure to get long tubes. and go to a powder coater and ask them if they could withstand the temps. i know powder coating is baked on, but not at over 1000 degrees. i doubt it would work.

I know of people who have PAINTED thier headers with this paint called...Jet something, and they have kept up fine. Don't see why powdercoating wouldn't work if paint does.

JetHot, but it's not paint, it's a special high-temp resistant coating similar to ceramic coating. It's a special nickel-based formula that withstands temps at 1300 degrees. They are very well-known among the street rodder community and they are very high quality.

umm ya you can powder coat your heads, my dad just did it. In a chrome like powder coating and looks so awesome. powder coating is baked on at like 400 degrees I think, and I know many people have gotten their headers powder coated too. it looks awesome

Have had powder coated TA Performance headers on both of my Skylarks and have had no problem with damage to the powder coat. As long as you are not having any timing issues they will last you a long time. The only thing that I had was a little discoloration near the header flange on both cars. have had them on for over 4 years now.
