Fuel Filter Change

Fuel Filter Change
First let me say that the car in question belongs to my girlfriend.
She tells me that it's a 3.8 liter '98.
I just changed the oil, oil filter and air filter and am attempting to change the fuel filter. I found and disconnected the pressure switch and ran the car until it stalled. I then removed the clips from either end of the fuel filter but I'm unable to pull the lines free from the ends of the filter. The hose ends that are attached to the filter appeared to be stainless steel. This is different than I am used to seeing but then I've not changed a fuel filter in a pressurized system before.
The filter spins easily within the hose so it seems loose enough that it should pull off. Is there a special tool necessary that spreads between the filter and hose end that spreads to push the hose off?

RE: Fuel Filter Change
i thought those clip things held the new filter in.
With ours, I believe you remove those little clips, then use the line tool to click loose the fitting, then pull the filter out. You snap in the new filter, and then put on the little clips.
waiittt.... with ours you don't even need the special tool it's just held in my those clips. da lmao
