I will take my 2003 cobra to the paint shop this week after a minor accident, the guy at the shop told me there are special edition mustangs that come with Mystic chrome color and only 400 were made. Is that true? I will be making my decision on wich color.
Will post pics after the job is done.

 

there were mystic chrom 96 cobra's and 03 cobras

the 03 cobra paint is much cheaper than the 96

96 paint is govermentaly regulated and to say it's expensive is an understatment of the year


go with 2003 cobra mystichrome

 

96 mystichrome... if yer gonna get it, ya wanna make people know you got it

ive seen pics of the people what have the 03 mystichrome, and from some angles it just looks like a solid dark blue.

 

you can't get 96 mystichrome paint, unless you have a mystic cobra, and to get the paint for a repair you have to prove it's damaged and then in many cases will watch you paint it and clean up the remenants

+1, when the '96's came out I wanted to get a car painted that color and thats exactly what I was told. 1 you have to own one, 2 you have to tell them which panels are damaged. Then they send a guy out to verify, and send only enough paint to paint the damaged panels. BTW, when I asked it was something like $800/pint. OUCH!

so why exactly is this paint SO special and cost soo much and everything?? nothin to do w/ this but i had a mystic teal metalic 95 camaro and i loved the paint. just like the mystichrome but more green.

 

Yes... there were mystichrome cobras in 96 and 04

It would be a sweet paint job, but it'll be hella expensive to touch up because I've heard that people with that paint scheme have to get the whole thing repainted for it to look right if a fender bender or something would occur.

 

It has something to do with one of the tints in the color.

One tint is used in the printing money.

Hence, it would be easier to counterfeit if it was available to everyone at a supply house.
