Default 2004, 2003, 2002 Mustang different?

I'm sure this has been covered somewhere in a post but I haven't found it. I'm going to be buying a Mustang GT very soon and would appreciate your thoughts. I read somewhere that there are minor upgrades in the 2003 Mustang. I am looking at a 2002 Mustang GT, 2800 miles, great shape for like $17,000. You thoughts on - Will I regret it the 2002, should I hold out for a 2003 or 2004 due to any notable improvements etc? I believe the 2003 has modified airbag deployment and maybe something else? I am getting ready to cross-over from the Ford Contour (best enthusiast community ever? www.contour.org) to Mustang. Let's see how good you guys are!!! Thanks.

They all have the same hp ratings, so go with the 02 with low miles and save that $$ for some upgrades

I am inclined to agree because I will be driving the thing over 10 hours weekly just for work commute (not to mention church, beer runs, etc) so no matter what year I buy I'll be driving the thing into the ground.

Yeah, I was checking out a brand new '04 with a great body kit installed by dealer also had great rims and decals. I got them down to 23,300 after rebate. My problem is that any car I have will be driven into the ground. I commute over 1 hour one way. I live in the sticks so bugs and rocks will chip the !@# out of my car. I maintain my cars well and protect them but there's only so much I can do. So if I buy this very very very clean '02 with only 2,800 miles on it I should be happy right? I really want to know if the '03 or '04 had any significant upgrades / improvements that I should worry about in the '02.

No significant upgrades. In fact, ABS/TC was optional in the 04s.

Ok. Thanks for the replies. I kinda thought there might be more replies. Not sure how active you guys are yet. I am accustomed to www.contour.org forums which is exteremely active. Anyway, I bought the 2002 Mustang so I am now aboard!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can't believe I did it. I made the jump up to 260HP and I am very happy. Anybody need a '99 Ford Contour SE with lots of mods?

Glad to hear that my '02 is not too inferior.
