RPMs weird when shifting
I have a 2003 Mustang 3.8L V6 5 speed. When i am shifting, i let off the gas, and push in the clutch like normal, but my RPMs dont drop, they will stay at 3K(or at the RPM i shifted at) or somtimes even go up 100 or 200 RPMS with the clutch in and then when i shift up and let out the cluch they drop back down. Is this normal in a mustang? In my jeep I can remember the RPMs dropping when you put in the clutch. Also, when pulling up to a light in nuetral it takes a long time for the RPMs to get to idle speed. Whats going on? Thanks.

The first thing I would look at is the IAC Idle Air Control valve. On a 4.6 it's on the front of the throttle body. The IAC can be cleaned by sticking the straw of a can of carb spray cleaner between the hose and a barb fitting somewhere in the hose going to the IAC or remove the IAC valve and bench clean.Replacement is also an option.Make sure the throttle blade moves without any restriction or any kind of hang up points.
