Default Transmissoin shifting

Here's the problem my transmission started not going into gear so I changed the filter and fluid worked little better but now it will not shift on it's on. also drive or over drive will not work. It shifted into drive today like nothing was wrong but I stoped at stop sign then it went right back to not shifting again. Is there a shift senser or Vac. shift senser on trans that may be making it do this?

tcs is one thing to check (transmission control switch)

There is a senser on the pass. side of trans that has a vac line going to it. Is that a modulator valve?

Likely. What kind of a car are you driving? There are many variations through the ages.

You did put in the correct fluid.
I added a little dextron 2 and
the trans started to work like
the fluid was low.
Put the Mercron in and all is better.

The car is a 1992 2.3l W/A4LD trans. I used the right fluid and filter added a bottle of Lucas transmisson additive. I had the same problem after changing fluid as i did before. took it down the road today and it shifted from 1st thru OD fine without sliping. Then went home parked car for about 1hour Had to go to store and it would not shift through any gear. I added a tras fluid cooler to help but still the same.
