Default help choosing year to buy

hello guys.........great forum

i currently drive a Lexus LS 400, i have recently been looking around for a Mustang to buy for a second driver.......or a project/fun car so to speak..

i was was wandering what the best year mustang is to buy.....for performance/reliability....i love all of the body styles, and have looked at 90-93 models, love the 94-95 body with the 5 litre....and i test drove a 04 GT last weekend, that sounded mean as well....

my question is which year would you guys recomend me buying....i plan on slowly but surely modding it up, i'm a pretty avid DIYer. and i'm looking forward to creating a monster i just need advice on which the best year model would be to start on.
thanks

Welp, the fox bodies are going to be the best bang for the buck.

But I'm sure most people are going to reccommend the newer ones for better performance or somethin.

And lots of people dont like the 94-98 stangs because they were heavy so that made them one of the slowest years

I like fox bodys as well, but if you are looking for a newer style get a 2001 GT. 2001 is the first year with the hood and side scoops(fake but look good) and the smoked headlights. And since they are still a little old, you can get a pretty good price for them.

Agree!... I also like the 2001 GT and up models --- so my vote is for a new model GT 01+ --- good luck!

well, id vote for my 88 gt.
it was cheap
it runs great and has 150k miles...... now thats reliability.
plus, from my rookie opinion, if you pick up an 88ish for around 2k, think of the mods you can add in for the money you'll save over a later model. jmo

It seems to em that everyone is suggesting the car they drive so i might as well jump on that bandwagon. you should get a 92 GT possibly with a deep emerald green paint job witha titanium lower accent

<--------like that one over there
