yes, its a totally different engine design. The pushrods have 1 cam in the middle of the motor and lifters/pushrods/rockers that work the valves, but OHC motors have cam(s) ontop of each head that work the valves, but im not sure exactly how...

93 was the last year of the fox body, which had a 5.0 rated at 225hp

94-95 was the beginning of the sn body style, it also had a 5.0, but was only rated at about 205hp

96-98 had the 4.6L as did the 99-04 new edges.

all v6's from 1994-1998 had the 3.8L single port motor, and all v6's from 99-2004 1/2 had 3.8L split port motors, and the second half of 2004 was the same as the 3.8L split port but it was actually a 3.9L

the 94-95 5.0 was rated 215hp in the GT and underrated 240hp in the Cobras...

In '96 the 4.6s were also rated 215hp in the GTs (225 in the '98 GT) and 305hp in the Cobras, and in '99 the GT motors went up to 260hp and the Cobras went up to 320. In '03 the Cobras were underrated at 390hp and were a lot faster.

1/4 mile times for all the cars very on source and driver...

yea, the new edges (99-04) were split port motors which put out a significantly more amount of hp (about 40 in both the v6 and GT).

what do you have in mind? if you want to build up a fast car, start out with the 5.0 from a fox body, theyre the cheapest to mod and respond very well to mods.

the split port GT's have 40 more hp than the fox 5.0's but in the end, they cost more to purchase, mod, and they dont respond as well to the mods... (plus the fox 5.0's are much more stylish and weigh significantly less)
