Default Timing chain Install?????? how Easy???

Ok my friend just bought 84 stang 3.8L, The time chain is gone bad, How hard is it to cahnge the time chain on it, Ive never had to replace one on a ford yet? I am guess bigger job then on a chev?

I don't think it's any harder than a Chevy. Just that it's more worth it. Working on a Chevy is a waste of time (Sorry, couldn't resist )
Like most V8's the timing chain is behind your water pump, so the fan, pulley, and all that has gotta come off. Since you gotta drain the radiator, might as well get that out the way as well. And you gotta get the crank pulley and balancer off as well. Probably need a puller for the balancer. And be careful about dropping stuff down into the oil pan. Which reminds me, it would be a good idea to replace the front crank seal too.
Try and get the #1 piston close to top dead center before removing anything. You'll more than likely move the crank taking off the balancer, but at least when it's time to hook the chain up the the gears, it won't be far off.

dont u have to take off the oil pan too since it is a one piece timinng chain cover? i thought i heard that once. i know they sell 2-piece ones for chevys so you dont have to, but i havent seen them for ford.

Well guys Ive got the timing set all done, only had one problem, 1 of the water pump bolts broke, It wasnt that bad to get it out, I am sure glad I got to my friends timing chain, as soon as we did, their was a few teeth broken sprockets, So now things are 100% better now,

Well on the drain plug its got a magnet plug so it gathers all the metal particles, the oil and filter all have been changed.
