RACK AND PINION
new poster so whats up. my question is have any of you had a rack and pinion start to squeak when you move wheel back and forth the car only has 54000 miles on it.the tranny also makes a whistle noise and when u rest your foot on the clutch pedal it stops it. the car is a 98 gt. any feedback would be appreciated.[8D]

well a few tips to look into about youre rack and pinion steering, It will make a little noise with movement, you have 98 GT, I would check all youre power steering fuild levels, Look for any leaks around the hoses from youre rack and pinion and power steering pump, I would take a look at both of youre lower control arms on each end of youre rack pinion, they might need to be greased, Well on youre tranny part, not sure if youre clutch is hydrualic, or cable, unable to trouble shoot for ya on that.

Hey, youre in luck. I have a 1998 GT also. The clutch part of youre problem is whats called youre Throw-Out Bearing. I work at a dealership and there is a TSB on that. There is a revised part number from FORD you can buy for cheap then have it put in. that might be expensive unless you do it youre self. The other noise youre hearing is most likly the strut. The struts are famous for making a creaking noise when turning the wheel. So there you go, good luck!
