The a/c compressor only will operate
if there is sufficient freon pressure
in the system.
That is why you have to hard wire
the compressor to turn when you are filling
the system.

You can momentarilly depress the
schrader valve to see if there is any freon.

The electrical system is tollerant of dead
batteries.

Check the fuses, could also be a bad connection somewhere or a bad low pressure switch. There's not much to them

So you said the guy says there is no power going to the compressor. Is that the person who purchsed your car or a HVAC tech.I am interested in helping you if you like.I was a licensed HVAC tech a few too many years. With some detail I can offer some assistance.I see you have had all the correct answers so far, from folks on the fourum.I really want to know who diagnosed the car...to say the compressor wasn't getting power.
True if theres been a leak and you have lost freon, your compressor will not function properly. Also by now you checked your fuses and wiring. Are you able to tell by testing the HVAC system any other problems. So is it working now or have you any new data. For example did you discover if the HVAC sytem is charged with freon?
There are switches in the system that carry electrical power...but I would only be suspecting that if the compressor is not getting current.Hence,I am interested who diagnosed your electrical fault with the compressor.IF it was a HVAC tech, thats one direct symtom to work with.if it was diagnosed by "A guy"who dosen't understand how the system works, you may be trying to find the problem in all the wrong places...

ok the guy who bought the car told me that he had a guy put the freon/recharge kit but that didnt work. SO like you guys have told me he told me they used a "probe" i dont know what its called to check to see it a system is geting power and it wasnt, He needed a owners manual to check what fuse is what but i dont have one. Im not sure if he took it to a guy that knew what fuse it was or not, but he didnt do the work, some guy that knows cars did it. They say its a wiring problem and they are going to need to take it too a ford dealar and its going to cost mad money so...i dont know

When you sold the car did you say the A/C worked? The only reason you should be helping ,is if you told him you were going to have it fixed. If you are responsible to get the A/C Fixed, then get the car back and bring it to someone you trust. You seem to be getting vague information from the buyers friend.I know you don't want to lose alot of $$$ on this.Maybe that person shorted out the wiring trying to be a trouble shooter.
Get it to a reliable mechanic, pay the initial fee so you have a clear picture of whats happening.
The problem may be due to other people trying to fix it and they aren't qualified. They may have been responsible for the problem in the first place.
If indeed they are correct and the issue is electrical there is a breaker for the A/C that should reset itself. The fuse cover sometimes has the diagram on the reverse side.
If you were the original owner, then you know the history of the HVAC system.Did you ever need it repaired? The problem(if electrical)could be at the controls. If any diodes blow there the system will shut itself off.
I am sure it's nothing too serious, however, you should be the one to bring it for the assessment and then you will know first hand what the situation is.More than likely,it just needs a recharge.(that is of course it never gave you any problems before).Don't let anyone monkey around with it if they aren't qualified. They could do more damage and you will be asked to pay for it.
If the person bought the car and it was AS IS ,then don't get involved.
If you never said the A/C worked and he discovered it afterward, then it's his problem to fix.
If the car was SAFETIED then the mechanic who certified it is responsible, since the HVAC system is part of the DeFROST for the windshield.
GoodLuck!
