Lincoln Mark VIII 4.6 Engine
Is a Lincoln Mark VIII engine the same as a cobra 4.6 engine?
Would it bolt up directly to the mustang?
Could I use the same Mark VIII wire harness on the mustang?
Would the Mark VIII engine be compatable with a five speed from a 2000 GT Mustang?

RE: Lincoln Mark VIII 4.6 Engine
Man, I am not going to be able to give you great info, but I can tell you what I heard everywhere when I needed to replace my 97 cobra engine... The motors are the same as far as cubes and materials used... I do know that the two cars have some different parts bolted on (i.e. intake), but I would think that the values that the computer controls would be the same... I will be interested in hearing from someone that actually went through the process... I went ahead, broke down, and then bought a remanufactured 4V 4.6 from Ford and had all of my parts connected back to it (came with a warranty and that is a good thing when you make that kind of investment)... I can tell you that the valve covers on this reman engine are not from SVT (dang it, the sigs are gone forever)... I have heard of a lot of people doing the cobra engine swap. But, if you are looking to make HP then you may want to look at blower options for both engines... the 4Ver runs higher compression and ends up being less a good candidate for boost... at least higher boost... If your motor is not shot, then just check into what the supercharger manufactureres have as options for the two engines... you could end up far ahead when looking at the investment of: N/A cobra engine vs. supercharged 2V GT engine... just a thought...
