what does a high stall converter do?

RE: what does a high stall converter do?
It allows the engine to rev into its power band when launching the car from a stop.
The negative with a stall converter is the lack of response at low rpm's in normal driving and the tranny fluid will be warmer if the engine is kept at rpm's lower than the lockup.

Shifting deals with the valve body, not the torque converter. A 5200 rpm stall is worthless on the street and should only be considered for track use...straight tracks only.

5200 is a lot of stall!
i thought 3500 was kind of a lot lol. to help with the warmer tranny fluid you can by a trans cooler though. thatd help solve that problem. but yea...a built auto with a shift kit and a stall converter could be better than a manual. a lot of drag racers use automatics cuz they can actually be a lot faster once theyre built up.
