The Nissan had 4.30 gears in the rear? That is strange. Did you count the teeth yourself, or is that what someone had told you that it had in there? If it had them, then the transmission had to have some pretty high gears... I am guessing that you have an ~3500+ lb GT with an auto??? (well, even with a manual) having about 225 HP with that weight, doesn't make them look that great at top speed... The torque from the 5.0 is something else though...

it's probably b/c the nissan is geared much much lower than the stang giving it better leverage to overcome wind resistance. the nissan is prolly also a little lighter than the stang.
