Muffler Questions?

RE: Muffler Questions?
Go into the store. Any parts store will either carry or let you order. Check prices.
But before that, go to google and type in exhaust sound. You should get some times that list sound clips of different exhausts.
Get the one you like. It pays to have exhaust that sounds good on the outside, but nice and quet inside! SLP is good sound, but agressive. As far as sound goes, get what you like and can live with for a long time, dont go illegal, also consider your neighbors, when you **** them off those are the people that will key your car.

RE: Muffler Questions?
I live in a place where you have to drive at least 20 minutes to find anything remotely close to an auto parts store. and being that I currently have NO muffler on my car, (I'm careful about being too loud around my 'hood) my car sucks gas.

RE: Muffler Questions?
I installed a Magnaflow catback on my '98 GT vert and love the exhaust tone. A friend of mine with an '03 triple black Cobra vert installed a Flowmaster and it doesn't sound half as mean as my '98 GT. Lower note altogether with the Magnaflow exhaust. Plus, they kind of settle in after so many miles and sound even meaner. Quiet at idle (low rumble) but come alive under acceleration.

RE: Muffler Questions?
I'm thinkin' I might look into that. thing is, I'm 16, and I work at Taco Bell making 6.50 an hour. so I can't afford to blow a buncha money. I really just want my car to sound better than stock. stock is sorta, "chuggy" if you will. it annoys me when I drive by guard rails with the windows down and the nasty sound echoes into my car.

RE: Muffler Questions?
thanks. that's what I was actually planning to do. just get a FM 40 series delta flow muffler. until I found out the muffler on my car is not the original. it's actually 17" long and the same width and depth. only I believe it has 2.5" pipe fittings instead of the original 2.25. 'least I hope so. found an 18" muffler on Pypesexhaust.com with all the right dimensions and 2.5" piping.

RE: Muffler Questions?
I would avoid the pypes exhaust place and stick with one of the pro's that can mail you something direct that you can trust.. You really dont want to wind up with something you spend your hard earned cash on only to hate it and wind up spending more money to get it right.. you can call some of the speciality links and chat with the pro's before you buy anything. Tell them what you have and they will atleast get you in the right direction before you settle with pypes and regret it..
