When to get a performance tune?
I was wondering if I should get a performance tune after I put the densecharger and MAM or if it won't make any difference. More than likely it's going to be at least until christmas before I can afford any more mods (college student = poor) so I figured someone here might be able to tell me if getting a performance tune now would give me anything.
it would give u more hp...they would re-map ur whole fuel curve..fix ur a/f ratio...up ur ignition timing all that good stuff...but u could hold off on it if u plan on doin more performance mods like headers and midpipe ..or heads/cam pack
a tweecer is def the way to go man....for 300 bucks, you can have a chip that can run up to 4 or 5 tunes, cant remember exactly, and you can do it yourself with a laptop. www.tweecer.com
Ive never used a tuner myself, they work good for alot of things but unless your tuning it while on a dyno they don't increase performance as much as one would think... but if its still this early into your modding on your stang then its a good idea to get a programmer so you don't have to spend $300+ everytime you want to re-tune - because each mod that affects airflow WILL alter your a/f ratio.
Remember a tool is only as good as its user... which is why I don't tune my car, I'd rather get the most out of a safe tune from someone else than to do it myself and either cost myself some hp or potentially damage my engine. I'd probably feel differently if I wasnt already near the end of my engine mods though....

md just want to blame it on someone else if it f.cks up*L*..no a tweecer is somewhat hard to use with a big learning curve ,I had one sold it got a PMS ssystem more bucks but easier to use...you should using the tweecer and a dyno see about 25hp on a near stock engine..a a/f meter is high recommended so you can do good tunes yourself and save those $100 3 pull sessions
