ORIGINAL: bobby

Now, the answer to your other question is no, it won't cause any problems. Your engine won't gum up and not start. It is still a 15 weight oil. I question the wisdom of running 15W-50 in anything but an older worn engine however.
Just to see how it worked, I ran Amsoil in my old EXP for 25k miles, it ran fine, and I beat the hell out of that thing. I also used the Amsoil filter. I sold it and the guy wrecked it.
Damn, now that I think of it, I miss that stupid little car.

ok, for you that are running amsoi, how often do u change your oil? i think ill still change every 3k, im leery bout going any more than that no matter what they say, just wondeirng what u guys think, thanks
Leave the Amsoil in your car and just drive. Chemists took care of everything years ago. It's an approved "extended drain period" motor oil. It won't break down as fast as the other motor oils. Let me make this comparison......If you hit someone with a Louieville Slugger 20 times, it will really bruise them up, but if you hit someone with plastic play bat, it will just annoy them. Amsoil is the plastic bat and dino oil is the Louieville slugger. Amsoil motor oil + Amsoil Filter = a happy car. Don't put any additives when you use Amsoil, you'll destroy the oil's integrity and ability to last and protect.
My racing friend has used Amsoil in all his vehicles for many years and has never had a problem with it. He changes the oil filter about every 5,000 miles and the oil and filter at 10,000 miles and swears this has worked just fine for him. I'm just glad I don't have to pay for the oil in his 2003 F350 diesel dually, he told me just yesterday that the engine takes 3-1/2 GALLONS of oil when you change it!!!
