Stick with your Mobil 1. IMO think changing my oil once a year is a accident waiting to happen.

DO NOT USE any oil treatments. The oil you use is more than sufficent to do the job and is already doing what the slick 50 crap claims to do. I have seen several cars blow there motors running that crap, all be it, they had 100,000 miles on them.

As for the flush kit, waste of time and money and can cause damage. A good thorugh oil change will work just as well. Depending on the age of the motor and mileage, a flush can do more harm than good. The oil gallies may get plugged by the sludge released from the cleaning.

That reminds me, got to change my oil this week, Royal Purple for my baby!

There was a guy that used to hang out on the forums that sells Amsoil out of Texas. Tell him your with the forums and he'll cut you a deal. I've bought from him before and made out well. His name is Chaz. Look in the vendor posts. The Amsoil after discount works out to about the same as Mobil. I run Mobil myself because I'm too lazy to order in time before oil changes. I'm running Amsoil in the tranny and differential though. Also highly recommend the PI fuel addititive. That stuff made a huge difference in my car!!

I've been thinking about switching to Mobil 1. How often do you change it? I'm a truck driver, and the company I drive for uses it in their trucks and they're getting over a million miles before any engine work.

Just for info, the FAA has not approved any of the oil additives that are commonly asked about on these websites. The ONLY additive that has been approved is an anti-scuff additive that is required for use in certain Lycoming engines. If any of this stuff did anything like their claims the engine manufacturers would have gotten approval years ago. I use Mobile 1 in my GT and Exxon Elite in my airplane.

Your call really. I've read LOTS of good things about Amsoil, just too lazy to buy the oil in time. Because it doesn't require scheduling I've only done the rear end and tranny. I'd like to try the Amsoil at some point especially because the price differential is neglible with the discount Ches gives.

The other reason I haven't bought...

I'm actually in an experimentation mode right now. I bought my car with 80,000 miles on it and found out the previous owner ran "various" brands of oil. He changed it regularly but never settled on a brand. He also ran 10W-30. I changed to 5W-20 (Mobil 1) based on a Ford TSB, but I tend to use a bit if I put my foot in it. If I behave it won't use a drop, but if I drive aggresive I can burn a quart pretty quick. I just changed my oil and went back to 10W-30 Mobil 1. I want to see if the higher viscosity decreases the amount I burn. If so I'll probably put Amsoil in next oil change.

If you change your oil every 3,000 miles and your ride has 110,000 mileson it, Flush your motor. It's can be bad if you have 110,000 miles on it and DON'T change yur oil. I flush my mustang and with 25,000 miles on a rebuilt motor I had to take the heads off and it was clean. Flushing your motor is a good thing. If it messes up your motor, your motor was junk anyway.
